Prez’s African getaway: dodging scandals at home

The Issue: President Obama’s leadership in world affairs and his family’s recent trip to Africa.

***

As usual, Michael Goodwin is right on (“What, Obama Worry?” June 30).

While Washington is conflagrant with scandals, and the streets of Cairo and Istanbul burn with the protests of thousands, Nero — President Obama — is fiddling in Capetown before his usual adoring audience of well-intentioned, but naively misguided, university students and enablers.

Even worse was his press conference in Senegal, where the arrogance of his remarks in response to the Ed Snowden scandal was exceeded only by his narcissism.

Snowden is now charged as a criminal conspirator against our government. Doesn’t Obama’s stand constitute aiding and abetting a traitor?

With the ever-growing threat of an Islamic world takeover, the United States and our allies cannot survive 3 1/2 more years of the trickle-down tyranny and timidity of this feckless president.

Is anyone else as outraged as I am over the $100 million of “our” money that the First Family spent on their African vacation? This is just plain wrong and should not be allowed.

We have $17 trillion of debt and unfunded obligations. Obama is adding another $100 million more to it in “two weeks” of vacationing.

We the people should put a stop to this waste. Congress needs to ground him and cut his allowance.

The picture of Obama in the South African jail cell reminds me of what is happening to our Constitution.

It is locked up and forgotten by his entire administration.

Goodwin’s column cites Obama’s press conference in Senegal, in which he said, “I’m not going to be scrambling jets to get a 29-year-old hacker.”

Given Obama’s performance this past year, even scrambling eggs would be beyond his capability.

Our infamous leader was wasting taxpayer money by running off to Africa to avoid criticism over the numerous scandals haunting his reign.

How sad and embarrassing to see our weak-kneed president sitting next to Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

Obama makes Neville Chamberlain look like Gen. George Patton, which in turn makes the US a laughingstock to our enemies.

God help America.
