California girls’ ‘Book of Rules’ turns a page, finds a publisher

When two California girls lost their small wirebound notebook outside a local Walmart, detailing a list of “rules” based on their life experiences, they had no idea what awaited them.

Book publisher Simon & Schuster offered to put their “Little Book of Rules” to print after Fox affiliate KTXL reunited the authors, 10-year-old Isabelle Busath and her 8-year-old cousin Isabella Thordsen, with the notebook after finding it in the store’s parking lot in January.

The list of 246 rules covers everything from “Don’t bite your dentist” to “Don’t be selfish” and “No stealing.”

“Don’t stuff food in your mouth,” said Isabelle, reviewing one of the rules she helped write.

“I know this boy in my class who does that … I won’t say his name,” she giggled.
