Lions’ Megatron confident vs. Giants’ DBs he can’t identify

What, me worry?

That was the way Calvin Johnson sounded on Wednesday as he discussed the chances of the Giants’ defensive backfield holding him and the Lions down Sunday at Ford Field.

“They’re going to present some challenges for us, but I think we can find some openings there in the secondary and get the ball moving,’’ said the man nicknamed “Megatron,” who has 75 receptions for an NFL-high 1,351 yards and 12 touchdowns this season.

The Giants are coming off a 23-0 loss to the Seahawks, prompting Johnson to add “if we put up points on the board and we start fast they might not be able to keep up with us.’’

Johnson admitted he was poor at pronouncing names before butchering the last name of cornerback Prince Amukamara. He did not come close to knowing the name of Trumaine McBride, the Giants’ other starting cornerback, but he did know whomever it was wears No. 38.

“Uh, I mean if he says ‘Hey, you’re Prince Amoo …’ then I’ll tell him it’s Prince Amukamara,’’ Amukamara said. “But I’m not going to initiate anything.’’

McBride said he did not expect Johnson to know his name because “last year I was out of the league. I mean, I haven’t done much so it doesn’t bother me that he doesn’t know me.’’

As for dealing with Johnson’s 6-foot-5 height, the 5-9 McBride said, “I mean, I’ve been this small forever. Like everyone I go against is always bigger. With me, personally, you just have to find ways as far as him being so tall I can’t jump with him so it doesn’t make sense for me to try to jump with him. You know it makes more sense for me to play his hands when he’s coming down and knock the ball out. That’s one of the things I could do, possibly.’’
