A jealous husband stabbed his wife to death in the couple’s Wakefield home after he discovered she was cheating on him, authorities said Monday.
José Hernandez, 52, had apparently grown suspicious that his wife, Ana, 47, was having an affair and decided to do some spy work at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday before calling her out, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.
“He hid himself under the bed while she was making a phone call,” Kelly said.
The subject of the conversation was apparently enough to confirm the suspicions of the enraged Hernandez.
“He came out from under the bed and he stabbed her in the back and she expired at the hospital,” the commissioner said.
Hernandez was charged with murder, manslaughter and possession of a weapon, cops said.
A woman was shot several times on a Hunts Point street, authorities said
The 21-year-old victim was hanging out in front of an apartment building on Manida Street near Randall Avenue at around 9 p.m. Saturday when a gunman walked up and blasted her multiple times before running off, cops said.
The woman was rushed to Lincoln Hospital with wounds to the back and was listed in stable condition, cops said. She told police that she did not recognize the gunman.
Police are hunting for a thief who robbed two bodegas in one day, authorities said.
The thug walked into the Zerega Deli and Grocery on Zerega Avenue at around 1 p.m. Sunday, stuck a gun in the clerk’s face and demanded cash, cops said.
The thief fled with around $900.
A little more than two hours later, the same gunman entered Steve’s Deli and Grocery on Mayflower Avenue, again using a gun to get $1,100 from the register, cops said.
The crook was wearing a red shirt, green knit hat and blue jeans.
Staten Island
A teenage thief has broken into several St. George homes this year, according to a Criminal Court complaint.
Tylek Brooks, 17, entered a Monroe Street apartment on April 29 and stole a laptop, digital camera, iPod and $300 cash before fleeing, the complaint says.
He struck again May 17, forcing his way into a St. Pauls Avenue apartment before stealing a laptop, watches and a pair of sneakers, according to the complaint.
Brooks was at it again a week later, when he broke into an apartment on Corson Avenue, this time stealing a computer, a camera and a PlayStation 3, the complaint says.
Brooks allegedly returned to the Corson Avenue home Nov. 22 and stole another computer, iPhone and jewelry.
He was arrested Wednesday and slapped with charges of burglary, grand larceny and possession of stolen property, cops said.
He was held in jail in lieu of $35,000 bail or bond, according to the city’s Department of Correction.
Queens
Two thieves knocked off a Woodhaven bodega last week, stealing thousands of dollars in cash and lottery tickets, sources said.
The two suspects walked into a deli at 95th Avenue and 89th Street at around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday and one of them pulled a gun on the clerk, ordering him to get down on the ground.
“If you want to go back and see your family, sit down or I’ll shoot you!” one of the thugs barked at the employee, the sources said.
The men then allegedly rifled through the register, pocketing around $3,000, and grabbed lottery scratch-off tickets before fleeing.
A Hollis Hill man wrestled a gun away from a thug in his driveway, law-enforcement sources said.
Police said Roman Suleymanov, 34, pulled into his 223rd Street driveway at around 10 p.m. Thursday and was confronted by a gunman who said, “Give everything or I will kill you!”
Suleymanov fought with the mugger, wrestling the gun away from him before fleeing to a nearby business and getting a clerk to call cops.
The thief fled.
The victim was treated for a broken nose, police said.
