Drunk driver drove 2-year-old crash victim to hospital

A boozed-up driver struck a 2-year-old Queens boy and then drove him to the hospital — but the child died of his injuries.

Jaied Figueroa suffered severe trauma after Gilbert Echeverria, 35, plowed into the young boy, who was walking home with his mother at Northern and Junction boulevards at about 9:50 p.m. Friday, according to police.

Echeverria scooped the critically injured boy off the street and into his car — and raced to Queens Hospital. But Jaied was pronounced dead minutes later, cops said.

Echeverria told investigators he “had some shots and then ate some empanadas. I’m good,” just before he was placed under arrest, according to a law-enforcement source.

He was charged with vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and driving while intoxicated.
