Severely beaten toddler clings to life in Brooklyn hospital

A toddler who was severely beaten is clinging to life in a Brooklyn hospital today, police sources said.

Cops responding to a 911 call found the 17-month-old toddler unconscious at 9:05 a.m. inside his Fountain Avenue home yesterday.

The toddler was rushed to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition.

He had visible bruises all over his body, police sources said.

The mom, Teyuana Cummings, was busted on Oct. 13 in for petit larceny and possession of stolen property, according to court records.

The case is pending in Brooklyn Criminal Court.

Police are questioning Cummings and her boyfriend Kysheen Oliver, police sources said.

“The New York City Administration for Children Services is currently investigating this incident and has asked the Family Court to place the two other children from the home into ACS’ protective custody,” the agency said in a statement.

A next door neighbor, Maribel Pejada, said she heard crying on Wednesday night.

“I heard the mother yelling but since I don’t speak English I don’t know what she was saying. There was arguing and some other,” Pejada said in Spanish.

“It was common so I didn’t think anything of it. Then the crying stopped and I went to sleep. When I woke up the next day, I didn’t hear anything.”

Pejada said her kids saw the little boy “crying outside his apartment door one day. He was screaming and upset his mother left him out there alone.

“His mother yelled that she would let him back inside once he stopped crying but she wasn’t hitting him or anything. I didn’t see the boy bang his head. My kids didn’t say anything about that.

“I found about the boy when detectives came to my home. Of course, I’m surprised. If it wasn’t for the police, I wouldn’t know what happened.”
