The version of “The Kennedys” that will air on April 3 is exactly what the miniseries’ producer, “24” creator Joel Surnow, wanted to make.
The series, which had been canceled by the History Channel under pressure from Kennedy friends, was not altered, says Stan Hubbard, CEO of ReelzChannel, the little-known cable channel that picked up the show.
“The eight-part movie event that was delivered to History Channel is what we’ll air, as it was finished,” Hubbard told The Post yesterday.
“I’d be surprised if any of the Kennedys actually stepped into this discussion,” he said. “The people who got in the middle of it are people who fancy themselves as close to the Kennedys.
“In the end, the people who stepped in will have done nothing more than embarrassed the Kennedys.”
