The reason Anees, a 25-year-old medical student who dabbles in improv comedy, selected Alex, 24, is because her profile made him laugh. Alex, on the other hand, didn’t know what to expect, nervous the date would be more horror story than romantic comedy. So did the two find a way to laugh together or did drama ensue?
He said:
Alex’s profile was really funny, and I love a good laugh, so I was excited to meet her. When she got there, she looked prettier than her picture, which was a great surprise.
There was a lot of joking and laughing. We are both fun-loving and active people, so we had a lot to talk about.
JBird Cocktails was a great location! Everything was delicious, except for the bone marrow. We weren’t ready for it, but we loved the calamari appetizer and the chicken entree. The cocktails were also really good — they even hand-cut the ice!
I enjoyed Alex’s company. We exchanged numbers, and we already talked about meeting up again soon. I would like to see where things go.
She said:
I was more nervous than usual because I knew nothing more about Anees than his name. I was relieved to see that even in my heels, I wasn’t dwarfing him.
He immediately tickled my fancy by complimenting the self-aware way I answered the questions in my profile, which was a deep observation to make. The conversation was all over the place. We talked about our backgrounds in psychology and travels to Europe.
We tried bone marrow for the first time; neither of us were feeling that, but JBird was perfect for a date.
Anees escorted me back to my neighborhood, and we exchanged numbers. I would definitely see him again!
