THE ‘DIE’ IS CAST: IT’S AWFUL

EVEN the participation (including some nude scenes) of Elodie Bouchez, charming star of “The Dreamlife of Angels,” isn’t enough to make “Don’t Let Me Die on a Sunday” watchable.

Sure, it’s hard to believe that a film about S&M sex – that begins with an apparently dead club girl reviving as a mortuary attendant rapes her corpse – could be deeply dull, but French director Didier Le Pecheur pulls it off with this aridly pretentious, ultra-talky, absurdly self-conscious exploration of sexual extremism.

It’s almost plotless and visually uninteresting. Much of the acting is way over the top and characters are always saying Gallic, pseudo-profound things like: “Pain is better than love because you cannot forget the other person.”
