Panetta’s last stand: Showed O’s true priorities

The Issue: Defense Secretary Leon Panetta’s testimony regarding the administration’s response to Benghazi.

***

Millions of Americans who read Michael Goodwin’s article “Nobody Wake Barack” (Feb. 10) must be just as incensed as I am toward this president’s behavior regarding Benghazi.

After being told about the attack, the president reneged on his responsibility to save Ambassador Chris Stevens and his three colleagues.

A true leader would not just instruct his staff to “do whatever you need to do.’’

President Obama’s failure to act like a leader allowed terrorists to murder four Americans.

Instead, he walked away from his sworn oath and flew to Las Vegas the next day for a campaign event.

This president spent more time pondering the fate of the terrorists in Guantanamo than he did the Americans who were working for our government.Ceil Coppola

The president put Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Gen. Martin Dempsey in charge while we were being attacked.

The president didn’t even call them to find out what was going on.

Who was in the situation room watching this happen live and in real time? Hillary Clinton wasn’t around. Obama wasn’t around.

We still don’t know who changed the talking points, who made up the lie about the video and why UN Ambassador Susan Rice was sent out to lie to us, instead of Clinton.

Both Clinton and the president said they take full responsibility, but with that should come consequences.

Why weren’t they fired? Why aren’t the media calling for someone’s head?Cindy Conti

This is a great article, but frightening.

I remember the protest song “Ohio” by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young about the Kent State shootings back in the ’70s, which had the line “four dead in Ohio.”

Where is the band now to sing “four dead in Benghazi”?

The Benghazi charade dances on.

Does anyone recall the good lady back in 2008 who asked the question: “Who do you want in the White House when the telephone rings at 3 a.m.?”

Evidently, there were two sleeping beauties last Sept. 11. Obama had to get up early to catch a plane to Las Vegas.

What does it take to impeach and remove from office this flagrant derelict-in-chief?

Thank you for keeping the Benghazi issue front and center.

A president resigned because of Watergate. Nobody died — it was the coverup that was the problem.

We have four dead Americans killed on the anniversary of 9/11 and the Obama administration is still not forthcoming about the events.

Disgraceful.

The media are co-conspirators in this fiasco.

I liken the “lamestream” media to the Russian state news agency Pravda.

The Post and Fox News are the only media reporting on Benghazi.

The answer to Clinton’s question about a 3 a.m. call is: neither.

According to Panetta and Dempsey, neither she nor Obama were available to pick up the phone.

Obama had one conversation with Panetta and none with Clinton. Obama detached himself during the entirety of the attacks, and totally shirked his duty as commander-in-chief.

Panetta did little to help the ambassador and the others by not sending everything and anything to help.

Dempsey said that he didn’t send assets because he didn’t receive a request for such aid. Outrageous.

It’s clear that the reason for the whole nonsense about the video being behind the attack was an obvious attempt to cover up the ineptitude of the administration.

The families of the victims should be outraged. Their loved ones died while our government did next to nothing to help them. Jim Lynam
