Third time’s the charm for top dog

A little black dog with a bouncy step who barks in four languages was named America’s top dog at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show yesterday.

Banana Joe (pictured), a 5-year-old affenpinscher, wagged his tail as he was declared Best in Show at Madison Square Garden, where twice previously he just missed winning the top prize.

“He’s won a lot of big shows, but not like this one,” handler Ernesto Lara said.

The spunky dog has been living in Pennsylvania with his handler, Ernesto Lara, but will soon fly back to his home in the Netherlands.

“He speaks German, Dutch, Spanish and English,” co-owner and breeder Mieke Cooijmans boasted of his prized pooch.
