Big-screen legend Burt Reynolds will pay a visit to “Fast N’ Loud,” The Post has learned.
The show’s hosts, Richard Rawlings and Aaron Kaufman, are devoting two episodes of the popular Monday-night Discovery series to Reynolds’ cult-classic 1977 action movie “Smokey and the Bandit.”
In the movie, which co-starred Sally Field, Reynolds played a legendary truck driver, Bo “Bandit” Darville, who’s offered $80,000 to transport cases of beer from Texas to Georgia — while being chased by a blustery Southern sheriff (played by Jackie Gleason).
The movie spawned two sequels, “Smokey and the Bandit II” and “Smokey and the Bandit Part 3.”
The two “Fast N’ Loud” episodes, scheduled to air in December, will feature Reynolds, 77, engaged in helping Rawlings win a big bet with one of his old rivals.
Rawlings is a huge Reynolds fan and, in the episodes, he shows up in Florida (where Reynolds lives) with a “Bandit” replica car in order to catch Reynolds’ attention — and the ruse works.
Reynolds gives Rawlings one of his treasured cowboy hats as a gift — and also autographs one of Rawlings’ prized possessions (which will be revealed on the episode).
The “Smokey and the Bandit” theme is a good fit for “Fast N’ Loud,” a reality show which centers around Rawlings and Kaufman’s Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas — and the pair’s searches for old cars which they then restore and sell for a profit.
The series, as might be expected, has performed exceptionally well among male viewers since returing for its most recent season — finishing October as the top-rated cable series among men 25-54, men 18-49 and persons 25-54 (excluding sports telecasts).
It’s also been averaging around 2.4 million viewers every Monday night — up 14 percent over last season.
