Our working mother-in-chief

Michelle Obama had an oops moment when she called herself a “busy single mother” in a TV interview last week. But the First Lady is a PR pro, and she corrected herself immediately.

The correction was even funnier.

“As a busy working mom — and before coming to the White House, I was in that position . . . working, driving kids to practice, not having enough time to shop or cook, not having the energy,” she explained.

A busy working mom!

Before moving to the White House, she worked at a Chicago hospital where her senator-husband would try to send a $1 million earmark. At its peak in 2005, the job paid her $317,000, but even in 2007, when she was down to part-time, it still paid her $104,000. Not to mention the seat she held on a corporate board that paid her $50,000 a year and gave her stock options.

All busy moms get stock options, right?
