Downtown electronics emporium J&R Music and Computer World is plugging into Herald Square with a 35,000-square-feet J&R Express location within Macy’s. It opens Wednesday.
“It’s a branded store within a store,” said J&R co-owner Rachelle Friedman of the mini-merger.
Carrying a wide variety of audio and visual gadgets from digital cameras and plasma televisions to computers and iPods, J&R’s inventory will showcase the best sellers in every category from the store’s downtown location.
“We will sell everything but small appliances because Macy’s still carries them,” adds Friedman.
The exclusive partnership brings Macy’s back into the electronics business just a few years after closing up its department.
And J&R, which will accept the Macy’s credit card, is hoping its second retail location will lure more businessuptown business shoppers.
