Killer carpenter who hacked his housemate into pieces gets 25 years to life

The creepy Russian carpenter convicted of hacking his roommate into thousands of pieces was sentenced to 25 years to life today by a Brooklyn judge.

Sergey Mamonov, 51, still shows no remorse for his gruesome crime, prosecutors said before the judge gave him the max.

“He said to the probation officers that this was a tragic accident and he is innocent of this crime,” said assistant district attorney Melissa Carvajal.

“[Mamonov] did have family members … they couldn’t attend the trial because they simply couldn’t hear the details.”

Defense attorney Kleon Andreadis said Mamonov’s arrest was his first encounter with the criminal justice system and requested a lighter sentence.

Mamonov declined to speak before Judge Neil Firetog hit him with the max.

A Brooklyn jury convicted Mamonov earlier this month of killing Aleksandr Zilbergleyt and then packing his flesh into bleach bottles and pulverizing his brain in a meat grinder.
