NBA: Rockets stay alive vs. Thunder

Chandler Parsons scored 27 points as the Rockets avoided a four-game sweep with a 105-103 win over the Thunder last night in Houston. Patrick Beverley added 16 points with point guard Jeremy Lin out with a bruised chest muscle. Kevin Durant led Oklahoma City with 38 points.

Josh Smith scored 29 points as the Hawks built a 17-point lead at halftime, then withstood an Indiana comeback over the final two quarters to even the series with a 102-91 victory in Game 4 last night in Atlanta. Game 5 is tomorrow night in Indianapolis.

The NBA’s relocation committee voted unanimously to recommend that owners reject the application for the Sacramento Kings to relocate to Seattle. The NBA Board of Governors, which consists of all 30 owners, will convene during the week of May 13 to vote on the matter.

NHL: Colorado wins draft lottery

The Avalanche won the NHL draft lottery last night, and will own the No. 1 pick come June 30. The Panthers will get the second pick, while the Lightning have the third selection. The Devils will draft ninth. Portland Winterhawks defenseman Seth Jones, son of former NBA player Popeye Jones, is the No. 1 ranked North American skater according to the NHL Central Scouting Bureau.

MLB: Davey worried about Strasburg

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Stephen Strasburg has “a little tightness” in his right forearm and was seen by a doctor after last night’s start against the Braves. The righty, who got a no-decision in the Braves’ 3-2 win, is 1-4 with a 3.13 ERA.

Blue Jays pitcher Aaron Laffey has chosen to become a free agent rather than report to the minor leagues. Claimed off waivers from the Mets last week, the 28-year-old lefty made one start for Toronto, and was wild in a no-decision Friday night against the Yankees.

COLLEGE: Stanford QB calls it quits

Stanford quarterback Josh Nunes is retiring from football after he injured his throwing arm in February and missed spring practice. … LSU suspended its leading running back, freshman Jeremy Hill, following his weekend arrest in connection with an alleged bar fight near campus.

GOLF: MGA squad wins Cup in Ireland

A team of six amateurs representing the Met Golf Association defeated Ireland, 6 1/2- 5 1/2, to win the Hugh L. Carey Cup matches yesterday at the European Club in Wicklow, Ireland. Jim Liu, Cameron Young and Max Buckley each won their singles matches while Mike Miller halved his match to clinch the victory. It’s the second consecutive victory for the MGA and third ever in the biennial event’s 11-match history.
