Police investigating potential suicide aboard boat of Red Sox owner: report

Police are investigating a possible suicide aboard a yacht owned by Red Sox owner John Henry, according to a Boston Globe report.

A spokeswoman said police and firefighters responded to the ship about noon, where they found a 28-to 30-year old man in cardiac arrest. Though efforts were made to revive him, he was later pronounced dead.

The spokeswoman said the man have been working on the ship, which was docked in Rowes Wharf in downtown Boston.

Henry married his second wife aboard the 164-foot yacht named Iroquois. He put it up for sale for $28.7 million in 2011.

The oddly named ship has an interesting backstory: When Henry lost a significant portion of his clients’ money, one business, named Iroquois, pulled out. Henry bounced back, while Iroquois then went bankrupt. To remember the company’s jumping ship, he gave his own ship its name.
