CBS grabs viewing crown for TV season

CBS has won its first “young viewer” crown in over 20 years.

CBS will finish first for the 2012-13 season in the advertiser-coveted demographic of adults 18-49 — unseating Fox, which finished in second place and was hurt by falling ratings for “American Idol.”

It’s the first time CBS — which got a boost from the Super Bowl — has won the season in adults 18-49 since 1991.

CBS and Fox were followed in adults 18-49 by ABC, Univision and The CW.

CBS also won the season in total viewers (12 million on average) — far ahead of ABC (8 million), Fox (7.1 million), NBC (7 million) and Univision (3.7 million).
