Diet pro: Cut sugar, lose 17 pounds fast

Now you can have your cake and eat it, too.

Diet expert Jorge Cruise promises that you can eat pancakes, muffins and cakes in his new weight-loss book “The 100,” as long as you substitute wheat flours with coconut and almond flours and flax meal.

Losing up to 17 pounds in two weeks is easy as pie, Cruise claims, if you take in just 100 sugar calories per day — which one can calculate by quadrupling a day’s total carbohydrates grams.

“Eighty percent of the country thinks it’s all about calories, that you’ll lose weight if you eat less and exercise,” Cruise told The Post. “And everyone’s fat, so it’s doesn’t work. So the option is to starve and work out all day. But it comes down to one thing, it’s about insulin management, not caloric management.”

In the revolutionary new book, he tells dieters to ditch traditional health foods like light yogurts, whole grains and fruits because they’re packed with sugars and carbohydrates that raise levels of insulin, a weight-gain hormone.

Like the once-popular Atkins Diet, Cruise’s regimen is low-carbohydrate and allows an unlimited amount of (sugarless) food.

Cruise also offers simple recipes that replace sugar and wheat with natural substitutes in the book that hit shelves yesterday.
