This week’s couple: Their art’s desire

Could it be? Had our daters Jaclyn, 28, and Ethan, 31, met prior to their blind date at David Burke’s the Garden in SoHo? Considering she, a teacher, visited a gallery where he, a visual artist and curator, once worked, it was a possibility. Both of them also came to us from OkCupid, where they had a 91 percent compatible rating. So how did these two people who kept missing each other feel when they finally met face to face?

He said:

When I met Jaclyn, I thought she was super-cute, especially in the eyes. Her eyes are great. When we were seated and started talking, I could tell we were going to get along.

We talked a lot about art. We both like craft and conceptual styles. I don’t meet girls who are nearly as well-versed as she is about art. She even had visited the Observatory before, which is my gallery.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, but it was too bad the rain made it hard to try out the outdoor patio. The cocktails were good, though.

We went out for drinks afterwards and exchanged numbers. I’d definitely be interested in seeing her again. It sounds like we both have busy schedules, but it’d be fun.

She said:

When I met Ethan, he reminded me of my guy friends in high school — preppy with punk around the edges, and a warm smile.

I was looking forward to dining outside, but unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate. Oh well, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxed yet refined. It was refreshing to be on a date with someone passionate and knowledgeable about his profession.

I can’t think of one thing we disagreed on. We even have the same taste in local museums, favoring the Cloisters and American Folk Art Museum over goliaths like MoMA. I am interested in hanging out with Ethan again, and we exchanged numbers. There is the possibility of a romantic interest, and certainly the potential for a good friendship.
