Meet Krypton’s killer cutie

Zod’s found a friend!

While most of the characters in “Man of Steel” will ring a bell to movie-goers, Krypton citizen Faora will be a fresh face. The bad girl makes her big screen debut as second-in-command to the general, cape and all. She first appeared in a 1977 issue of “Action Comics,” and showed up in various iterations throughout Superman’s history.

“Krypton is a genetically engineered society,” says Antje Traue, the 32-year-old German actress who plays Faora. “She is bred for a purpose to protect and serve the Krypton ideal. She’s a solider — she responds to orders and she really enjoys that. That’s who she is — there’s no second guessing.”

The role is a big break for Traue, whose only major US release thus far is 2009’s “Pandorum.” Growing up in rigid East Germany, Traue didn’t have much history with Supes.

“I had no attachment emotionally like kids in the States, where it’s such a big deal and everybody follows his story,” she tells The Post.

It took a while for the former competitive gymnast to realize the extent of what this could mean for her future.

“When you don’t grow up with a superhero, you cannot really [understand],” she says. “I see it now that everybody’s wearing Superman T-shirts and kids are just so excited and everybody is talking about it. I can tell it’s a big deal, but I’m still digesting it.”

She’ll need to finish the meal soon — Faora’s butt-kicking scenes are sure to whet the appetite of more than a few fanboys.
