Knee injury KOs Liberty’s Carson

The Liberty’s loss on Friday to the Atlanta Dream was painful in more ways than one.

That’s because they might be without Essence Carson for the rest of the season. Coach Bill Laimbeer said the guard suffered a significant knee injury in the first half of Friday’s night 75-56 loss at Atlanta. She was being evaluated Saturday by doctors.

Carson was carried off the floor after hurting her left knee with 3:56 remaining in the first half. She was driving on a fast-break attempt when her leg appeared to give way as she attempted to make a cut near the basket.

“It didn’t look positive, but I’m not a doctor so we’ll wait and see what the doctors have to say,” Laimbeer said after the game.

The Liberty (2-2) play host to the Atlanta Dream today at Prudential Center beginning at 3 p.m. (MSG Plus).

* It would be easy to assume because Allan Houston played his college basketball at Tennessee for his father, Wade, their relationship was the primary one in the family.

Not so.

Houston has two sisters, both of whom were athletes. Houston watched how his father treated them, how he equally divided his time between his three children and how he sized up the boys and then men who came to call on his daughters.

“The relationship between a father and a daughter often goes overlooked in our society,’’ Houston told The Post. “It’s a very important one for a lot of reasons. A father is the first man a girl falls in love with. How he treats her provides a foundation for all her relationships with men for the rest of her life.’’

It’s no wonder then that Houston, a former Knicks star and now the team’s assistant general manager, will be at the Prudential Center today on Dads and Daughters Day presented by Chase.

Special ticket packages for Dads and Daughters are available that include a pregame skate party, a clinic after the game and commemorative T-shirts.
