Going for the ‘Burn’

Michael (Jeffrey Donovan) returns to Miami from the Dominican Republic to track down a sociopath who is trying to blow his CIA cover. Tempers flare, however, when his new handler, Agent Strong (guest star Jack Coleman), forbids him from contacting Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar), Sam (Bruce Campbell), and Jesse (Coby Bell) while stateside. Against his wishes, Michael will need to keep his distance in order to keep the ones he cares about safe.

Bailey and Raymond Cruz.

NECESSARY ROUGHNESS

Wednesday, 10 p.m., USA

‘Matilda’ vs. ‘Kinky’

The smart money for this year’s Tony Awards is on the hit British musical “Matilda,” which has 12 nominations. It won Best Musical at this year’s Drama Desk awards, a reliable harbinger. Its nearest competition is “Kinky Boots”, the Harvey Fierstein-Cyndi Lauper campy extravaganza about a shoe store. Everyone is waiting to see if sympathy for the late Nora Ephron will earn Tonys for her last play, “Lucky Guy,” and its star, Tom Hanks. Hanks has some strong competition from Tracy Letts, who won raves for his work as George in the revival of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” Cicely Tyson, who returned to the stage after 30 years at age 88 in Horton Foote’s “The Trip to Bountiful,” seems like a shoo-in for Best Actress in a Play. The host for the show is Neil Patrick Harris, star of “How I Met Your Mother.” Everybody likes him; it’s his fourth time at the podium.
