FEATURING the production values of a commercial for a local used-car dealership in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, “Super Capers” is a pathetic grab bag of spoofs of “Star Wars,” “Batman,” “Back to the Future” and James Bond movies.
Ed Gruberman (Justin Whalin) is a guy who delivers singing telegrams in a superhero costume who gets caught up in a world of real superheroes when he foils a mugging. An evil judge, a superhero who turns into a puffer fish when he’s scared and a cameo by Adam West pop up in a plot about a search for gold bars.
The Looney Tunes-style sound effects played over dim jokes put this movie below the standard of a home movie on YouTube.
