Mike’s meddling, step by step

The Issue: Mayor Bloomberg’s efforts to get more New Yorkers to take the stairs for their health.

***

Nanny Bloomberg is at it again (“Mike’s Next Step: Stairs,” July 18).

Now he’s telling New Yorkers to take the stairs instead of using the elevator, something he always does in his townhouse. He says walking up five flights of stairs helps to keep him in shape.

People have been doing this for years, but not by choice. These are the thousands of people who live in buildings run by the New York City Housing Authority, whose elevators are constantly broken down and not fixed, sometimes for weeks. Thanks for the workout. Peter G. Orsi

The mayor is now telling us to take the stairs instead of elevators?

This man has become a national joke.

I have a suggestion: Bloomberg can save the next mayor a lot of headaches by settling expired union contracts, instead of sticking his nose into our lives.

I can’t wait until he leaves office. It will be a day of freedom for us all.Robert K. Greco
