Elin’s ‘split’ decision

Tiger Woods could get a big lump of coal from his wife right after Christmas — a trial separation.

The cheating golf great’s missus, Elin Nordegren, fueled speculation that she’s about to dump him when she made a rare public appearance over the weekend — without her wedding ring, today’s London Sun reports.

The British tab ran a picture of the Swedish beauty pumping her own gas at a Florida filling station on Saturday, conspicuously without any rings on her fingers.

That’s the strongest hint yet that Nordegren — who regularly wears her wedding ring in public — is ready to leave Woods after two humiliating weeks in which his alleged mistresses have aired their steamy escapades.

The 29-year-old beauty wants to keep her family — including her two children with Woods — together for Christmas, the Daily Mail of London reported.

But she plans on insisting on a trial separation afterward, the paper said. Nordegren is already talking to divorce lawyers, according to yesterday’s News of the World newspaper in London.

Still, while any chance of a reconciliation might seem unlikely to some, there is talk that Woods is trying to patch things up — by persuading his wife to have another baby, said the Daily Star, another London tabloid.

“Another baby is Tiger’s idea,” the paper said, quoting the unidentified friend.

“Right now, Elin is horrified by the idea . . . but he believes that when they’re alone on the ocean waves, he can change her mind,” the friend said, a reference to reports they’re about to take a cruise on their yacht.

It would likely take a lot of convincing.

Elin is “filled with hatred” for Woods at the moment, Britain’s Sunday Mirror said.

Nordegren was especially “sickened” when Woods admitted bringing his hotties to the couple’s homes in Florida and California, the Mirror said.

It added she plans to leave the United States with or without Woods and head home to Sweden.

One of Tiger’s private jets, registered to the ETW Corp., which runs his business affairs, took off from Boston yesterday and landed in Gothenburg, Sweden.

But there were no signs of Woods or his wife or kids onboard, and a crew member told waiting reporters that the plane had flown “empty.”

The worker mysteriously said it was there to pick up a passenger or passengers.
