Cop who wrote up Roethlisberger report posed for photos with him earlier: report

The police officer who wrote up the police report on an alleged sexual assault involving Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger posed for a photo with him just hours earlier.

Sgt. Jerry Blash, who later wrote up the incident without including Roethlisberger’s name, can be seen smiling next to Big Ben in two photos on the Union-Recorder’s Web site.

Roethlisberger is accused by a 20-year-old college student of sexually assaulting her in a Georgia bar not far from his lake house. He reportedly told police that night they did have sexual contact but it stopped short of intercourse, and that she later fell and hit her head.

Milledgeville, Ga., police chief Woodrow Blue said he wasn’t concerned about the pictures.

“The photographs did not and have not affected the investigation at all,” Blue told the Union-Recorder.

This is the second time Roethlisberger has been accused of sexual assault. A Las Vegas hotel worker accused him in 2008 of sexually assaulting her in his hotel room. He was not charged in the incident.
