Gay couple is out

The soap opera “One Life to Live” is “Kishing” its gay couple goodbye.

Brett Claywell and Scott Evans — who play gay couple Kyle and Fish, whom fans call “Kish” –are being written off the show, according to reports.

Seems the soap’s producers had hoped the gay romance and subsequent wedding last fall would help get the show some ratings.

Despite the publicity generated by the wedding, the romance story didn’t help much and now the couple will be gone sometime next month.

The characters were married in what was billed as daytime drama’s first gay wedding last November.

The romance was treated in classic soap fashion — as part of a love triangle.

Kyle was set to marry another man, Nick, but at the last minute revealed his love for town cop Oliver Fish, who just happened to be at the ceremony to provide security from anti-gay protesters.

“We are concluding the story that we set out to tell with Kyle and Fish,” executive producer Frank Valentini told TV Guide.

“We are very proud to have broken new ground with a same-sex couple on daytime.”
