ALBANY — Eliot Spitzer may be open to launching a TV career, but returning to the political world as a statewide candidate should be off the table.
That’s the finding of a Marist College poll released yesterday that found 66 percent of New York voters don’t want the disgraced Love Gov to run for statewide office this year.
Last month, a Marist survey found 58 percent opposed his seeking office.
“Eliot Spitzer’s attempt to reconnect with New York voters is not paying off in the short run,” said polling director Lee Miringoff. “He has become more visible lately but not more electable.”
Spitzer has said in recent days that he misses public office, and despite privately expressing an interest in seeking elective office again, he’s publicly insisted that he has no immediate plans to do so.
There have been reports that he is talking to CNN about having a regular presence on the air.
