Ross: No cameras in court

Famed investor Wilbur Ross is not ready for his close-up.

Brooklyn-based Courtroom Video Network wants to live stream an upcoming courtroom showdown between the billionaire and burned investors who have accused him and his firm of double dealing.

Yesterday, CVN asked South Carolina State Judge Garrison Hill for permission to webcast the Sept. 9 civil trial, citing “substantial outside interest.” Ross plans to object to the webcast, sources said.

While high-profile criminal cases often get the camera treatment, civil cases — even those involving multimillion-dollar verdicts — rarely do.

Shareholders in Ross-conttrolled Safety Components are seeking $500 million in damages against WL Ross & Co. and its founder for a merger that took place seven years ago.

The suit alleges Safety Components bailed out ITG, which he also chaired, shelling out $150 million for a “worthless” company. Ross says the suit is without merit and he will defend the case “vigorously.”
