Rush gets $11M+ for loud condo

Right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh made good on his vow to “get out of New York totally,” reportedly closing on a $11.75 million sale of his 10-room Upper East Side condo — and splitting so fast, he left all his gilded, gaudy furnishings behind.

The liberal-bashing Limbaugh has long railed against New York’s high taxes. His Web site published the transcript of one bombastic broadcast under the title “El Rushbo to New York: Drop Dead.”

Limbaugh announced last year on his radio show that he’d decided to sell his condo at 1049 Fifth Ave., with its four fireplaces and terraces overlooking Central Park, to “get out of New York totally.”

He even offered to let the buyer keep all the stuff inside.

The Wall Street Journal’s Metropolis blog reported yesterday that when Limbaugh’s broker, Haidee Granger of the Corcoran Group, listed the apartment for $13.95 million in February, it pulled back the curtain on Limbaugh’s baroque living quarters — replete with gilded moldings, elaborate drapery, ornate beds with tall wood bedposts and hand-painted murals on many ceilings and walls.

Some brokers predicted the furnishings might get in the way of a sale — despite the uber-desirable 4,661-square-foot space, four bedrooms and private elevator landing.

Turns out the “international purchasers” loved every over-the-top inch of it, the newspaper reported.

They not only were considering keeping everything as is, they also agreed to keep all the furnishings.

Limbaugh nearly accepted a lower offer, but the winning bidder snared the place with a $11.75 million bid.

Limbaugh paid just under $5 million for the apartment in 1994.
