Keith Richards attacks Swedish journalist over bad concert review: report

Time did not heal all wounds for Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards – the 66-year-old rocker hit a Swedish journalist who gave the English band a scathing review years ago, Sweden’s English-language newspaper The Local reported Thursday.

Richards was being interviewed by Swedish reporter Markus Larsson about the English singer’s upcoming autobiography — “Life” — when the musician suddenly realized that his interviewer was the same writer who had dished out some tough feedback when the rock group performed in the Scandinavian country three years ago.

“His (Richards) eyes glazed over and he became utterly furious. He rose up and asked if we should turn the lights off and have it out,” Larsson wrote on his blog about the incident.

Larsson, who is a reporter for the Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet, wrote that Richards then hit him on the head before storming out of the room.

In his 2007 review, Larsson said the aging rockers were barely able to get through a concert in the southern Swedish city of Gothenburg.

“After all, it costs around 1,000 kronor ($149) to see a rock star who can hardly handle the [guitar] riff to ‘Brown Sugar’ anymore,” he wrote, giving the band two stars out of five for the performance.
