Deliveryman run over by Lexus, then a BMW

A hit-and-run motorist driving a Lexus slammed into a deliveryman on a bicycle in Midtown last night — then sped away from the scene, leaving the victim to be run over by a BMW, sources and witnesses said.

The luxury car horror began at 10:17 p.m., when the Lexus was cruising on Eighth Avenue.

A witness told The Post that the driver, 40-year-old Clark Gettinger, rammed into the 28-year-old bike rider near 47th Street with an impact so violent that the cyclist’s head knocked out the windshield on the passenger side.

The 2001 Lexus — which records show is registered to a now-deceased Bernard Madoff victim from Scarsdale — then swerved to avoid the victim, but a BMW riding right behind wasn’t able to get out of the way, pinning the man underneath.

“He was by the back tires under the gas tank,” said witness Blake Kirschbaum, 29, a bouncer at a nearby bar.

“He didn’t look too well. He wasn’t moving,” he added.

Firefighters from Engine 54, which is only half a block away, came down the street to try to save the man.

“It took 15 minutes to get him out from under the car,” Kirschbaum said.

Meanwhile, Gettinger continued up Eighth Avenue. When he got stuck in traffic at 50th Street, cops were able to surround the vehicle. Gettinger tried to flee on foot but was soon captured and placed under arrest. He’s been charged with DWI, vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident.

The luxury sedan is registered to Robert S. Gettinger, a Madoff victim who lost some $13 million to the scammer. He died in 2009. Clark Gettinger is a Manhattan resident, according to the police.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was in critical condition.
