NFC blitz: Seahawks vs. 49ers

HERO

Seahawks mouthy cornerback Richard Sherman made the game’s biggest play when he deflected a Colin Kaepernick pass into the hands of linebacker Malcolm Smith to secure the victory for Seattle.

UNSUNG HERO

Marshawn Lynch became the first running back to gain more than 100 yards rushing against the 49ers this season with 103 on 22 carries. He also sparked the Seahawks second-half comeback with a 40-yard TD run in the third quarter.

ZERO

Frank Gore did little to help the 49ers running game, rushing for just 14 yards. San Francisco collected 160 yards rushing, but 130 yards came from Kaepernick.

KEY STAT

2: The number of costly interceptions thrown by Kaepernick. The first led to a Seattle field goal, while the second ended a potential game-winning drive. Kaepernick threw three interceptions when the 49ers lost at CenturyLink in September.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“I believed in my teammates and they believed in me. We knew we had to come up with an interception.”
