JP Morgan ‘Chases’ off Twitter squatter

JPMorgan Chase has evicted a Twitter squatter.
Twitter yanked the handle @Chase from Chase Giunta, who had been aggressively re-tweeting other people’s criticisms of the nation’s biggest bank.

On Thursday, JPMorgan, which had been using the clunkier @ChaseNews, immediately snapped up the @Chase handle.
A source said that JPMorgan had been following @Chase for about a year and filed a complaint alleging trademark infringement in recent weeks.
Twitter’s terms of use say it will suspend an account “when there is a clear intent to mislead others through the unauthorized use of a trademark.”
Twitter reps reached out to Giunta, a 25-year-old Dallas-based graphic designer, and offered him an opportunity to comply with Twitter’s policy before stripping him of the @Chase user handle, according to a person close to the Twitter.

A JPMorgan spokeswoman declined to comment, as did a Twitter spokesman.
In an interview with The Post, Giunta said an anonymous broker offered him as much as $20,000 to relinquish the @Chase handle, which he refused, citing Twitter’s policy forbidding selling user names.
Giunta said he believed the broker was working on behalf of the bank.
“I know they [Chase] weren’t going to call me personally because it’s against Twitter’s terms and rules [to pay for a handle] so they got a broker to contact me.”
A person close to JPMorgan said the bank made no contact with Giunta.
“Now I wish I did take that $20,000,” Giunta said.
