Helmut Lang masters modern minimalism

THE WHO: Taylor Momsen, Stacy Keibler and Molly Sims

THE WHAT: The collection, inspired by the works of contemporary artist Wade Guyton, delivered a batch of deconstructed, ready-to-go attire. According to the designer notes, the collection was “an exercise of modern minimalism,” mixing sharp tailored jackets, leather bonded tops and skirts, chintzed jersey t-shirts, boxy slip and sheer dresses and slouchy boyfriend trousers that hung just below the hip.  The color palette was clean and crisp, with blacks and whites and pops of fuchsia pink.

THE HIGHLIGHT: The designer duo, Nicole and Michael Colovo, launched a new line of handbags in an array of perforated leathers and textured skins. Our favorite was a black and white stingray envelope clutch. Plus, we lusted over the models’ hair – loose messy ponytails, secured with leather hair cuffs.

THE TAKEAWAY: Play with proportion! And yes, the exposed midriff is here to stay.
