MTV’s ‘Teen Mom’ returning in January with new cast: report

MTV will air a new season of its popular reality series “Teen Mom” with an all-new cast in January 2011, USA Today reported Tuesday.

“Teen Mom” follows the lives of teenage girls during their first year of motherhood. The new cast members were chosen from the current cast of “16 and Pregnant,” the reality series that was spun off into “Teen Mom.”

Executive producer Morgan J. Freeman told USA Today that “Teen Mom 2” is currently in production for a Jan. 11 premiere.

Freeman could not confirm whether a third season with the current “Teen Mom” cast — which includes Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, Farrah Abraham and Amber Portwood — would air concurrently with “Teen Mom 2.”

“We’re doing some continuous-type shooting with the original [cast] but nothing’s been announced yet about what we’ll do with that,” he said.
