MSNBC suspends Joe Scarborough for political donations

MSNBC on Friday said it has suspended “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough for two days after he acknowledged making political donations during his time at the network, Politico reported.

Scarborough made eight separate $500 donations to friends and former staff members in local races near Pensacola, Fla. All of the candidates were Republicans.

“I recognize that I have a responsibility to honor the guidelines and conditions of my employment, and I regret that I failed to do so in this matter,” Scarborough said in a statement.

He will not be paid during the suspension, which will reportedly end Wednesday.

The revelation followed MSNBC “Countdown” host Keith Olbermann’s brief suspension earlier this month for donating to Democratic political campaigns ahead of the US miderm elections.

He made the maximum legal donations of $2,400 each to Arizona Reps. Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords and Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway, all Democrats.
