Lacoste asked Norway’s police to stop killer from wearing its clothes: report

OSLO — French clothing firm Lacoste contacted Norwegian police to request that confessed killer Anders Behring Breivik stop wearing its products, the Dagbladet newspaper reported.

Several pictures of Breivik, who killed 77 people in a July 22 bombing and shooting attack, showed him wearing clothes carrying Lacoste’s distinctive crocodile logo.

In one of the most widely-seen photos, Breivik is in the back of a police vehicle wearing a red Lacoste sweater on the way to his first court appearance. He had requested to wear a uniform at the hearing, but the request was denied by police.

Norway’s police confirmed Tuesday that it was contacted by the French firm but would not disclose the nature of the discussion, the newspaper reported.
