Traveler flies off handle

SEATTLE — A 39-year-old man is in custody after he tried to rush the door of an Alaska Airlines jet after it landed at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport yesterday.

Airport spokesman Perry Cooper said passengers and crew had to subdue the man, who was apparently anxious to get off the plane. One crew member was bitten in the arm.

The man was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation, before being transferred to jail.

Flight 108 from Anchorage, Alaska, landed in Seattle at about 4:30 a.m.. Cooper said no other airport operations were affected.
