Off-duty cop killed in ‘DWI’

An off-duty New York City police officer was killed in an accident on Long Island that reportedly involved a drunken driver.

Kevin Jessup, 25, of Massapequa, was driving on the Southern State Parkway at about 5:30 a.m. yesterday when he was rear-ended by a car driven by 20-year-old Jonathan Lopez, who also struck another vehicle, Newsday reported.

Jessup was pronounced dead.

His passenger, 30-year-old Crystal Simons, was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Police said Lopez, of East Meadow, was arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and other charges.

The driver of the other car was treated and released.

Jessup joined the force in July 2008 and was assigned to the 106th Precinct in Ozone Park, Queens.
