Cardinals’ Johnson loses part of finger, returns to game

File this grisly dispatch under: Football players are tough.

According to the Arizona Republic, Cardinals safety Rashad Johnson lost the top of his finger during Sunday’s 31-7 loss to the Saints. The injury happened when Johnson tackled Darren Sproles on a punt return. When Johnson removed his glove, he realized half of his left middle finger was still in the glove.

Johnson returned to the game after the injury. Yes, he returned to the game.

With the bone exposed, Johnson had surgery on Sunday to prevent infection. The bone was shaved and Johnson lost the finger down to the first knuckle, according to the report.
