Nets trade Shengelia for Bulls’ Teague

LONDON — The Nets made a pair of trades Saturday, sending Tornike Shengelia to Chicago for point guard Marquis Teague, and Tyshawn Taylor and cash to New Orleans for a future draft pick, league sources confirmed to The Post.

The moves, which likely won’t be finalized until sometime early this week, will save the Nets $2.5 million in luxury-tax payments while also freeing up a roster spot. They will have 14 of a possible 15 spots filled with players who have guaranteed contracts.

Teague, 20, was the 29th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Bulls, but fell out of favor with coach Tom Thibodeau and struggled with his shot, shooting just 24 percent (16-for-66) in 12 games this season. He is the younger brother of Hawks point guard Jeff Teague.

Shengelia and Taylor, second-round picks in that same draft by the Nets, rarely have seen much playing time during their year-and-a-half in Brooklyn. Taylor’s best moment came in scoring 12 points in 34 minutes last February to help beat the Pacers in overtime in Indianapolis without Deron Williams, though the lasting memory of him in a Nets uniform will be being the player who bumped into coach Jason Kidd, causing the infamous soda spill.

Shengelia saw even less time than Taylor, playing in a combined 36 games over the past two seasons. Both will be restricted free agents after this season.

Both deals were first reported by Yahoo! Sports.
