CAUGHT STEALING AT THE STADIUM

Twenty fans were busted trying to land five-fingered discounts at Sunday night’s Yankee Stadium finale, but that did little to deter a new group of chiselers from taking their crack yesterday.

The NYPD confirmed 18 arrests for possessing stolen property and two for running on the field.

One fan went onto the field after the game, blended in with the grounds crew – and nearly escaped with third base, a hunk of grass and some dirt, sources said. Many were nabbed ripping cup-holders from seats.

Among those arrested was Patrick Kearns, who prosecutors said is the son of a retired New Jersey police chief. Another, Chris Dertinger, was charged with causing more than $1,000 worth of damage.

Eleven defendants, including Kearns were released without bail at their arraignments last night.

Earlier in the day, a Bronx Criminal Court defendant, leaving jail on an unrelated case, said of the Bomber fans, “There are lots in there. They all have [Yankee] shirts.”

Souvenir hunters were back on River Avenue yesterday, looking for a piece of history.

Carmelo Paduani, 25, was using a screwdriver to scrape loose paint from the exterior wall.

“I’m just hanging around getting paint off the wall,” he freely admitted to The Post.

Yankee spokesman Howard Rubenstein said the team plans to hire a private force to protect the Stadium’s exterior.
