The Knicks have called it a “sore back” since mid-July. Sciatica could be caused by a herniated disc.

Gallinari has not played since the first game of the Las Vegas Summer League, July 14, and will miss most of preseason. Team president Donnie Walsh said Friday he’s been told the injury is not serious.
