‘SUBWAY SUPERMAN’ TRAGEDY

A young man who was fatally shot on a Morningside Heights street over the weekend was a surrogate son to “subway superman” Wesley Autrey.

Roy Huntley, 24, was found lying on a sidewalk on West 112th Street, with a gunshot wound to his head, early Sunday.

Huntley’s half-brother is the son of Autrey, who gained national renown in January 2007 when he jumped onto subway tracks in front of a train and rescued a man who had fallen off the platform.

“I treated him like he was my own,” Autrey said yesterday of Huntley.

“Roy was a very good kid. It brought tears to my eyes. He had the prettiest smile. He had a smile that was out of this world.” Cops have said that Huntley may have been involved in an argument with his killer. His mother, Debra Davis, said, “They need to go to jail and pay for what they’ve done. I haven’t been able to stop crying.”
