BIGGEST VESSEL A REAL SHIPLOAD

The world’s biggest cruise ship even offers something for landlubbers – a half-acre of grass on its top deck, to be tended by a full-time groundskeeper.

The Celebrity Solstice – a sea monster that, at 1,033 feet, is as long as 3½ football fields and weighs 122,000 tons – is preparing for its maiden voyage from Fort Lauderdale to the Caribbean on Nov. 23.

The ship yesterday barely managed to get out of its berth in Germany to head to a Netherlands port for final touches and two trial runs.

Thousands cheered as it was pulled by two barges for its slow trek down the River Eems.

The vessel, owned by Royal Caribbean, features the expanse of real grass for such things as bocce and golf-putting, and has 10 restaurants, a glass-blowing workshop partnered with the Corning Museum in New York, and rooms for 2,850 passengers.
