Poehler family takes over NBC

NBC is expanding its relationship with the Poehler family, acquiring the half-hour comedy series “Welcome to Sweden” produced by “Parks and Recreation” star Amy Poehler and her brother Greg.

Originally commissioned by the Swedish network TV4, the English-language, fish-out-of-water comedy stars Greg Poehler as Bruce, a New York accountant who falls in love with a Swedish woman, Emma, and follows her back to her home country. Much of the comedy was shot in Stockholm with a large Swedish cast, and features cameos by Amy Poehler, her former “Saturday Night Live” castmate Will Ferrell, “Parks and Rec” co-star Aubrey Plaza and KISS rocker Gene Simmons.

“Welcome to Sweden” also co-stars Lena Olin (“Alias”) as Emma’s mother and Ileana Douglas and Patrick Duffy (“Dallas”) as Bruce’s parents.
