New York Reps. Charles Rangel and Joe Crowley were arrested Tuesday for civil disobedience during a planned rally over immigration reform.
The two city congressman — with six other out-of-state Democratic politicians — were cuffed by Capitol Police during the planned event on the National Mall in DC.
“My colleagues and I are not afraid to get arrested for what we believe is important to move America forward,” Rangel said.
Legislation to provide a path to citizenship for illegal or undocumented residents passed the Democratic-led Senate earlier this year. But no action was taken in the GOP-run House, where some denounce reform as amnesty
