PLAZA VETERAN FINDS RETIRING BITTER-SUITE

The door has closed on the career of the longest-serving porter at the storied Plaza hotel.

Ed Trinka is hanging up the white gloves after 46 years of greeting everyone from Joe DiMaggio to Richard Nixon.

“It was the best time ever,” said Trinka, 65. “I had job security and The Plaza will always take care of you.”

The Clifton, NJ, man – who welcomed the Beatles on their first US trip in 1964 – said the key to hanging around so long is being kind to the ladies.

“Always smile and never forget to say please and thank you,” he said as he was feted with champagne at the hotel’s Oak Room.

The job also helped him land his late wife of 33 years, Isa, who worked as a nanny at the hotel.

Trinka, whose father worked in The Plaza’s garage for 30 years, snagged the job after he filled in for a sick doorman.

Trinka is looking forward to putting his charm to work in his retirement.

“I’m going to chase women,” he said.
